Two autumn weekends to celebrate an excellence that smells of earth and history. On 8-9 and 14-15-16 November 2025, San Giovanni d’Asso — a village nestled among the gentle hills of the Crete Senesi — becomes the capital of taste with the 39th edition of the Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco delle Crete Senesi (White Truffle Market Fair), one of the most authentic and long-standing events dedicated to the “diamond of the Crete”. Organised by the Pro Loco of San Giovanni d’Asso together with the Associazione Tartufai delle Crete Senesi (Crete Senesi Truffle Hunters Association), the Comune of Montalcino and the Municipality of San Giovanni d’Asso, the fair is a journey through flavours, traditions and culture. Here, where the Associazione Nazionale Città del Tartufo (National Association of Truffle Towns) has its operational headquarters, the promotion of this symbolic Tuscan product meets art, landscape and gastronomic research.

The 2025 programme promises an all-round sensory experience: markets of local produce, truffle-hunting demonstrations, guided tastings and grand dinners at the Castle where truffle meets the labels of Orcia DOC, Banfi and Brunello di Montalcino.
But the event also opens up to an international perspective: on Friday 14 November, a round table will mark the birth of the Gruppo Europeo del Tartufo e dei Tartuficoltori (European Truffle and Truffle Growers Group), a project aiming to strengthen the network of producers and truffle-growing areas across Europe in the name of sustainability and cooperation.

A programme of art, flavour and nature

Among the new additions are art exhibitions by Wang Yu and Flavio Ferdinando Foderini, the return of the evocative Treno Natura (Nature Train), masterclasses dedicated to cooking, and the International Award “Un Tartufo per la Pace” (A Truffle for Peace), which will close the event on Sunday 16 November. There will also be nature trekking towards Lucignano d’Asso, roaming performances through the village and musical events, such as the organ concert by Maestro Josep Solé Coll, organist of the papal celebrations.

A village to discover, a territory to experience

San Giovanni d’Asso, today a hamlet of Montalcino, is a place where time seems to flow more slowly. The castle, the stone streets, the soft colours of the Crete Senesi and the unmistakable scent of white truffle give visitors an authentic experience, made of encounters, stories and flavours that speak of true Tuscany.
