In the most authentic heart of Umbria, amid the evocative atmosphere of the Valnerina, one of the most iconic events on the food and wine calendar returns: the Diamante Nero of Scheggino. An event that turns the village into a widespread stage, where the black truffle becomes the absolute protagonist of a story woven from tradition, innovation and spectacle. The 2026 edition, scheduled from 10 to 12 April, promises to be an immersive experience blending taste and culture, with a packed calendar ranging from official inaugurations to cooking shows, from sensory workshops to themed talks.
Three days devoted to the black truffle
The programme opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Piazza Carlo Urbani, accompanied by musical performances and the opening of the food, wine and craft stalls. On the following days, the village comes alive with readings, artistic performances, tastings and in-depth discussions exploring the relationship between people, nature and the land. There's no shortage of hands-on events either, such as truffle workshops – from chocolate to ice cream – and meetings with leading figures from the cultural and television world.

A family story that became a world of excellence
In this scene of excellence, a leading role belongs to the historic Urbani Tartufi, a genuine symbol of Umbrian truffle culture and economy. Founded in 1852 in Scheggino itself, Urbani Tartufi is a family business with over 170 years of history, today a world leader in the harvesting, processing, distribution and promotion of truffles and their products.

This extraordinary Italian enterprise, deeply rooted in its Umbrian origins, has grown through six generations of passionate, far-sighted entrepreneurs. From the original vision of Costantino Urbani, to the decisive contribution of key figures such as Paolo Urbani and Bruno Urbani, the company has evolved from a small family business into an international group. Today it has 14 offices worldwide, is present in over 70 countries, and stands as a global benchmark in spreading the culture of Italian truffles.

Today Urbani Tartufi is not only synonymous with excellence in selecting and preserving truffles, but also stands out as a promoter of cultural and educational projects with international reach. Among these, the Truffle Museum – born from an intuition and the ongoing research work of Olga Urbani – and the Truffle Academy, are emblematic places where art, history and flavour come together in a shared story of taste and territory.
