In the heart of Le Marche, amid the enchanting landscapes of the Monti Sibillini, the village of Monte San Martino – in the province of Macerata – is preparing to celebrate one of its most precious treasures: the Mela Rosa. This ancient fruit, a symbol of biodiversity and of local farming tradition, will take centre stage at an event that draws visitors and enthusiasts from far and wide every year, with Saperi e Sapori della Mela Rosa saporosa dei Monti Azzurri (Knowledge and Flavours of the Tasty Mela Rosa of the Monti Azzurri), on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November.

The Mela Rosa (literally "pink apple") is much more than just a variety of apple. Recognisable by its small, rounded shape, rosy skin and unmistakable flavour, it has been grown for centuries in the upland and hilly areas of Le Marche. Its story is woven into the roots of rural culture, and its recent rediscovery is a source of pride for the community, which sees in this fruit a symbol of identity and an opportunity to promote sustainability.
The event dedicated to the Mela Rosa offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in a range of unique experiences: tastings, traditional cookery workshops, markets selling local produce, and meetings with farmers and artisans. Every year, chefs and producers from the area come together to showcase the flavours of the Mela Rosa, offering innovative dishes alongside traditional ones, demonstrating how this fruit can take centre stage in both sweet and savoury dishes.

Among the most eagerly awaited moments are the trekking routes through the blossoming apple orchards and the guided tours of the village, which reveal the historical and natural beauty of Monte San Martino, in an atmosphere that brings together nature, culture and gastronomy.
Mark your calendars for Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November for the nineteenth edition of Saperi e Sapori della Mela Rosa saporosa dei Monti Azzurri.
