A successful debut in Pieve Torina for “Le Terre del Tartufo in tour”.
On Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October, the town of Pieve Torina welcomed hundreds of people to the travelling event celebrating the truffle as its star attraction.
“This is the strategy we envisaged, choosing the precious tuber as a tool to promote the area, and the results are proving us right” said Alessandro Gentilucci, mayor of Pieve Torina, the lead municipality in a project involving no fewer than seven towns within the earthquake-affected zone. “Reconstruction,” Gentilucci added, “also means investing in tourism, culture and local promotion, which in turn create opportunities for growth and jobs for young people who believe in the future of these lands.”
The wellness pool hosted the launch event, showcasing the beauty and flavours of the area: the extraordinary craftsmanship combined with creative flair in fashion design; the remarkable skill in winemaking at the Azienda Vinicola Coppacchioli Tattini in Cupi di Visso, one of Italy’s leading producers; the blend of tradition and innovation in the Marca-style spritz made with products from the renowned Varnelli distillery; and finally, a wealth of delicious cured meats and cheeses, strictly from local producers.
The Sentiero delle Acque (Water Path) then hosted the “forest bathing” experience, a way to recharge through contact with the healthy energy radiating from trees, in an immersive journey through woods and waterways.
Next up, the towns of Muccia and Monte Cavallo will host “Trota e Tartufo” (Trout and Truffle) on Saturday 7 October and “Alla scoperta del ciauscolo, merenda in piazzetta” (Discovering ciauscolo, a snack in the little square) on Sunday 8 October. On 12 October, Camerino will focus on “Disco Marca”, followed on 14 October by “Like on Fire” in Fiastra. In Serravalle del Chienti on 15 October, there’s room for “Leggendo nella Storia” (Reading through History). On 20 October, the tour returns to Pieve Torina with “Fabulando nella Marca di Camerino”, while on 22 October Bolognola hosts “Aperitivo della Marca ad Alta Quota” (High-Altitude Marca Aperitif). The tour wraps up on 28 October in Camerino with “Aspettando la Festa del Torrone” (Waiting for the Torrone Festival).
Le Terre del Tartufo explores every facet of the precious tuber and the other distinctive products of the inland areas of the Macerata province. MEET the small-scale producers, TASTE and buy top-quality products not found through usual distribution channels, EXPERIMENT with new sensory pairings, and delve into the culture of the land and its local gastronomic traditions. A grand spectacle of flavour to be experienced with all the senses fully attuned!
The project also has its sights set on international visitors: Le Terre del Tartufo has already crossed regional borders by taking part in the BIT fair in Milan, and will soon head to London and other destinations in northern Europe to catch the attention of those who love Italy but have yet to discover the Marche region.
