The charm of the Santa Rosa Night arrives on the small screen. A new episode of “Una gita fuoriporta” is dedicated to one of Lazio's most evocative and iconic events: the Trasporto della Macchina di Santa Rosa (Transport of the Santa Rosa Machine) in Viterbo. The episode will air on Thursday 15 October at 9.00pm and Friday 16 October at 8.30pm.
The episode was recorded on 3 September, the night when the City of the Popes comes to a standstill to accompany the Macchina, the illuminated tower standing over 30 metres tall, carried on the shoulders of the Facchini (porters) through the streets of the historic centre. A ritual that unites faith, civic pride and tradition, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage treasure, drawing thousands of visitors from all over Italy every year.
The series' narration, guided by host David Romano, takes us into the heart of Viterbo's night: the anticipation, the emotion of the crowd, the work of the Facchini, the medieval lanes. Not just the event itself, but also the context that makes it unique: the history of the historic centre, its symbolic landmarks and the voices of those who bring it to life.
